Little Things

"...and yet you say life's beautiful ?? "
"Well yes, it is. Isn't it beautiful to know that tomorrow's a new day, a new adventure, and that a new quest awaits you ? Isn't it beautiful to find happiness in the most simplest of moments, like getting the last piece of cake or reading a good book with a cup of coffee by your side, and yeah, that moment when a baby's hand would curl around your little finger ?!  Life is all about cherishing these little moments. They're like cozy blankets that'd provide warmth in the dreary winter. They'll fill up the little voids that keep bothering you. That's what makes life beautiful. You just have to take the time to stop by and acknowledge life's little wonders, and you'll soon notice that life sure is a phenomenal journey !"

A WORD WITH A SMILE !

Just today, I happened to visit a supermarket filled with a considerably huge crowd. I have noticed it several times, and yet again, that whenever I enter a crowded place, my mind starts hindering in search of something to think about, I haven't come up with any conclusion onto why something as peculiar as this happens, but well, I suppose I'll have to live with the fact !
As people loaded their trolleys with all sorts of stuff, I aimlessly wandered around the supermarket. When my father was done with the task of collecting basic groceries, a task I find rather tedious, we made our way towards the counter. As I lent a hand onto unloading our trolley, I caught myself observing a woman who had this painstaking job, which I found a little too boring to do all day long, the job of bagging items after they were billed. She seemed to be frowning about something, maybe about her job, or something that went wrong back at home. I thought of ways to make her day a little better. So I went right next to her and helped her bag our items, and as I hooked the bag onto my shoulder and prepared to leave, I smiled and uttered a word that actually brought a smile on her face, a word so precious that makes expressing gratitude a bit more effortless, undoubtedly, the word was 'Thank you'.
Maybe I hadn't played any role in making her day better at all, but I'm sure she must have forgotten all the worries in the world for those few seconds in which she exhibited a rather pleasing smile.
Out there, you'd never know about the hardships people would be facing in order to survive, may it be a doorman or a lady who bags items, they silently and in an unobtrusive mode, help in making our lives evidently simpler, but quite often we fail in expressing our gratitude for their act. They live their lives doing jobs that often go unnoticed. But they too, as humans, need consideration, and a word as simple as 'Thank you', with a smile, goes a long way into making their jobs a bit noteworthy for them...

IN THE DAWN OF LIFE...

They say age matters, well, it sure does. Especially when it comes upon how you're treated. Well, this thought struck me when I went for an evening stroll, amidst the busy city life. I happened to walk past a pale, old man who seemed rather helpless with his huge grocery bags, and fortunately enough, I knew him. I helped him with one of his bags as he hesitated to burden me with the other. A smile swept across his beautifully wrinkled face, and that made me feel a sense of satisfaction sweep across my heart.
Moving on to the next episode that occurred during the stroll, a rather enthusiastic mother seemed to get her baby entertained, even when it lay lazily in her arms, with no spirited response. She asked the baby about the two songs papa loved, and with no keen response, or any sign of interest from the baby's side, the mother was compelled to voice out the songs herself !
The fact that's bugging me is - why are the elderly left with no passionate love and care during the dawn of their lives, while the babies, who are yet to actually begin their lives, relish the warmth of affection ?! Yes, I agree that both these stages of life are of equal importance, but then in my opinion, they should be showered with equal patience and respect too.
Its high time that we build up endurance and serve our seniors with equivalent compassion as they venture through the last stages of their lives...

WHY DON'T WE JUST BEHAVE LIKE....HUMANS ?!

I've come across several instances which brought to my notice of the ill ways in which humans treat each other, I mean, come on ! We are seemingly 'The most wisest and brainy animals' on planet earth ! Surely enough, God hasn't permitted this amount of intelligence to any other creature, and I'm sure that God had planned this system for betterment, but hey, all this while we've used our provisions on something as despicable as gossiping, verbal and physical abuse, riots and all sorts of contemptible acts, which disgrace us as 'humans'.
What is it that actually dehumanized us, even when we are blessed with everything we have today ? Was it for such spiteful purposes that we had been rewarded with brains, that ironically also have the ability to bring out the good in the world ? Quite remarkably, even some animals out there in the wild seem generous to me, not just because they exhibit some values we lack, but also because they treat their own species with utmost love and care, even when they haven't been privileged with the intelligence that we seem to flaunt about !
As rightful 'humans', we ought to respect each other, consider each other's opinions, treat everyone as respectable individuals and develop a sense of belonging to one kind. After all, we are all humans, a species like none other, a species whose ultimate task is to ensure the enhancement of conditions on our planet, a species who has the power to bring along 'Hope' for mother nature...

 ~ PEACE ~

Peace is one such state of mind, which is desired by each and every individual, with some exceptional cases, of course! Peace happens to be the most beautiful attribute one could possess, and only a handful of people actually do make their way to peace, these people are the fortunate ones, who, considerably, give the most calm reactions in the most soul-stirring situations.
All of us quite forget that peace was once a part of us when we all were newborns. But slowly and steadily, with the society playing a role in the framework, this little newborn was seemingly introduced to the greatest 'anti-peace' elements, like religion, gender, caste, race, economy etc. These elements perform a process which builds up an egoistic approach towards one's identity, an approach of being separate from mother nature and our fellow being, an approach that asks us to build our very own empire, an approach that tends to diversify ourselves from simplicity.
In a world with such an extensive population, with people with all sorts of different theories, woefully, we find ourselves distanced from peace. The civil wars, crimes, bloodshed and all such other dehumanizing issues that we come across in our lives provide us with clear evidence that the world which we live in today, lacks a once-precious-possession, namely, peace.
It's high-time that we get ourselves back to such an outlook, where there would be humanity, unity, equality, and all such pillars which would support today's pressing demand - Peace.

KINDNESS PAVES WAY TO A LOT MORE...

Remember the last time you served someone with a bowlfull of kindness, by helping them in some or the other way ? Remember the last time you helped grandma who belongs to your neighbourhood, get her backyard cleaned, or the time you helped grandpa with his heavy, grocery bags ? Remember the time at school when you helped that little boy get up after he fell off the swing, or the time when you aided a friend who had a fractured hand?
Well, you may or may not remember, but the people who you assisted wholeheartedly, remember it very well.
Kindness was very beautifully described by Mark Twain, when he quoted- 'Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see'.
Truly, an act of kindness never goes in vain, it surely brings happiness to you in return. It gets recorded as one of your good 'karmas' and serves you unknowingly in the worst times, helping you get rid of your problems.
An act of kindness gives you a lot more than you think. It gives you self satisfaction, makes you believe in your inner beauty, gives you strenght to serve unconditionally, and last but not the least, it makes you miraculously peaceful. These acts give you a rather pleasant and self-satisfactory feeling, a feeling that just cannot be described in words.
So the next time you see someone ailing, troubled, weak, depressed, perplexed or overworked, don't give it a thought, just get up and lend that person a helping hand with a smile! :-)
